DESCRIPTION

With the integration of tapestry making and earth architecture techniques, tension is created in the art pieces by combining contrasting characteristics of materials. Through a combination of dense clay with that of sparkling silk yarn, and techniques of heavy building with that of soft and delicate stringing, narratives of lived places are built. Using time as a phenomenon and technique, materials are used through layering, embedding, pouring and their continuous state of change suggests metaphoric identities of people and their places. The methods of making unfold the rootedness and the transient milieu of communities and places, of change, and confluence of old and new ways of being.
